It’s that time again……Instagram roundup! Check out my latest Instagram pics and follow me @ yourstylejourney for more! Have a great day:)
I came across these cute Kate Spade stud earrings and had to share them with you all, they’re a very similar, smaller version of her gumdrop studs that were a huge hit last year. They are a great way to add some color to your look. If color is not your thing- this is the perfect “gateway” pair of earrings for you.
Available at Zappos and Kate Spade $38

Can we just talk about this kitty picture for a second? My friend told me about this fun app called catwang where you can basically add fun things(mostly kitties) to existing photos. I was laughing the entire time I was making this picture! So fun!
Earlier this year I announced my “colors of the year”- Emerald and Lavender were the frontrunners and I still feel the same way. I have been pretty obsessed with purple anything lately but am partial to the light & feminine lavender hue in particular…the pretty pastel screams Spring and is so adorable! There is no better way to incorporate new colors into your wardrobe than with a gorgeous new bag! Lavender pairs especially well with camel, navy, white and other pastels and is quite versatile for a candy color. Love color? wear your lavender bag with a floral dress or pant for the ultimate Spring look.
Shop my FAVORITE lavender bags below right now!
J.Crew ‘Edie’ bag in vintage violet $238 at J.Crew.
Cambridge satchel in Lavender 11″ $190 or 13″ $198 at Cambridge Satchel Co.
Faux snakeskin bag $54.99 at Modcloth.
Rebecca Minkoff ‘Minimac’ in lilac $195 at Shopbop.
What are the “it” colors for 2013????? I can’t choose just one! The two colors that I won’t be able to live without are Emerald and Lilac!!!! So many of my favorite fashion moments have included at least one of these colors , if not both! Emerald has always been a go to color in my wardrobe but I’m really making room for lilac this year and am very excited about it. If you’re not big into color you can start by adding a shoe or clutch to your outfit or adding these colors into your makeup regimen. If you love color, go crazy with it- The more the merrier!
Some colorful inspiration…..
As the proud new owner of floral jeans I wanted to do a post that would inspire you to get a pair as well. I did have floral jeans as a kid but this is my first pair in my adulthood. Floral is so fun and they come in many color combos from grey to brights to colorful pastels, it’s up to you. I purchased a grey Current/Elliott pair(#4 below), yes I was bold enough for the print but not bold enough for color…..baby steps! I wore mine with a white v neck and pink sandals and plan to wear them into Fall with bold blues and blacks. As far as shoes, they look great with sandals, flats, wedges and heels! When wearing floral jeans, my only advice is to pair them with solid pieces so that the jeans are on a stage of their own. Below are some ideas on how to wear them and also some pairs to shop. Enjoy!

P.S. I saw 2 floral styles at Target today for $22.99. They are available in store only, here is the link to take a peek.
Of all the colors in the rainbow, besides neutrals I think purple is the most wearable shade when it comes to eyeshadow. It’s not as girly as pink yet not as risky as blue. I have brown eyes and wear all eyeshadow colors but I love the way purple looks most. From lavender to lilac and plum to eggplant, purple shades flatter all eye colors. You can go for a single shade look or smoke it out, the possibilities are endless! I really don’t believe in makeup rules but I know there are definitely pairings that look better than others. Here are some complimentary color combinations depending on your eyes.
Brown eyes: look beautiful with warmer purples and accented with bronzes and golds.
Blue eyes: look so pretty with cooler shades of purple and accented with greys.
Green eyes: Green eyes look absolutely amazing with ANY shade of purple and especially with eggplant and plum tones. Green eyes and purple shadows are a pair made in heaven. The color combination really POPS!
Remember these are combinations that work for sure, but any shade of purple may look gorgeous on you no matter what your eye color, so TRY shadows on! you never know until you do.
Here are some pictures of purples on many different eye colors and shapes; different skin tones as well.
