NYFW Alexander Wang S/S 2013

Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

This collection brought to mind urban street style meets uniformity.  The palette was neutral.  I would have liked to see a touch more color for Spring but Wang is known for his edgy aesthetic and futuristic minimalism, so such simplicity is to be expected. T-shirts and dresses with boxy silhouettes dominated while there was plenty of slashed up leather which Wang called “leather blocking”.  There were also more knee-high sandals which will be a big trend for Fall.

NYFW Prabal Gurung S/S 2013

Prabal Gurung Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

This collection was full of silks, feathers, fitted jackets and embroidered pieces.  The palette was black, white and grey with shades of red here and there. The show took place in a steamy warehouse on Pier 59, it was like a futuristic fairytale of sorts.

NYFW Monique Lhuillier S/S 2013

Monique Lhuillier’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

Known for her usual white and ivory wedding gowns, Lhuillier made great use of teals, blues and fuchsias, in what seemed to be an ocean inspired collection. With only a few separates,her main focus was dresses, very beautiful dresses!

NYFW Christian Siriano S/S 2013

WOW!!!!!!! Christian Siriano presented his Spring Summer 2013 collection and it was PRETTY!  I loved how feminine the pieces were and the use of pastels was perfect. I am also a huge fan of the loose ballerina buns that the models wore, that is my go to hairstyle for Spring and Summer. The use of feminine oxfords in addition to heels was a nice change of scenery during NYFW as well.  Just when I though the collection couldn’t get any prettier, out came some of the most beautiful dresses and gowns I have ever seen -many of which had incredibly intricate pearl embellishments and details one could only dream of! I envisioned my wedding day all over again, stunning! I absolutely loved this collection!  Still catching my breath!

NYFW Hervé Léger S/S 2013 Collection

The Spring Summer 2013  Hervé Léger by Max Azria collection.

There was the usual crepe and body-con band dresses that we have come to expect BUT most of them were shown with high contrast leather harnesses for a twist, carrying the hard and soft theme throughout the show, which I thought was pretty cool.  This collection was inspired by Helmut Newton’s photography as was Jason Wu’s. View the entire collection here.

NYFW Charlotte Ronson S/S 2013 Collection

New York Fashion Week continues…….

Here are some looks from the Charlotte Ronson Spring/Summer 2013 collection. She used prints and leather beautifully while leaving no shortage of color pale yellows, blues and pinks. I loved all of the wedges and the use of oversized handbags was a fun, yet funky addition as well.

 

Let’s start with my FAVORITES… I couldn’t choose one.  I have 3!

I loved this peplum lace dress with black stripe detail.

This cutout color block dress had amazing movement on the runway.

 

This sky and water print peplum is to die for, so pretty.

NARS to Launch Andy Warhol Collection (sneak peek)

This Holiday season Nars will launch a highly anticipated Andy Warhol collection.  The makeup is not only inspired by Warhol but will include his prints and photographs on the packaging as well.  The collection will consist of two different stories so to speak, the first named “pop art ” will pay homage to the funky bright pop art that the eccentric artist is known for and the second collection named “the factory” will aim for the more glamorous, sophisticated feel of Warhol’s New York City workspace that was a hot spot for the artsy crowd and famed for its star studded parties. The collection has no shortage of palettes and will include blush, lip gloss, nail color and more. The Sephora exclusive pop art line is set to launch October 1st at U.S. Sephora stores while the factory is set to launch at department and specialty stores worldwide November 1st.

Katie Holmes For Tommy Hilfiger

Katie Holmes teamed up with tommy Hilfiger for a great cause: The promise Collection. With Katie on board as the ambassador, 100% of the proceeds from the clothing and accessory line will benefit the Millennium Promise Foundation, which supports the poor in Uganda. The collection includes bold color palettes and animal print and is available now at Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide and on Tommy.com.
