Long summer days are fast approaching and cute swimwear is a must! My favorite swimwear line at the moment is Nicolita, specializing in sexy cuban & Retro style suits. The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Diane von Furstenberg(CFDA president)announced the nominees for the 2012 CFDA awards (basically the fashion oscars), which will take place on June 4th at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. Winning a CFDA Fashion Award is the highest and one of the most coveted honors one can receive in the fashion industry. I’m rooting for Simon Spurr for Menswear , Marc Jacobs and The Row (a tie of course) for Womenswear and Alexander Wang for Accessories to take home Trova (yes the award itself has a name). I’m also pretty excited about Johnny Depp getting the fashion Icon award for his super cool eclectic style.

The nominees for Womenswear Designer of the Year Award are Ashley Olsen & Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and Marc Jacobs.
The Menswear Designer of the Year nominees are: Billy Reid, Patrik Ervell, and Simon Spurr.
For Accessory Designer of the Year Award the nominees are: Alexander Wang, Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and Reed Krakoff.
Chris Peters & Shane Gabier for Creatures of the Wind, Joseph Altuzarra, and Max Osterweis & Erin Beatty for Suno have been nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear. The nominees for the Swarovski Award for Menswear are Antonio Azzuolo, Phillip Lim, andTodd Snyder. For the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design, the nominees are Irene Neuwirth, Pamela Love, and Tabitha Simmons.
The honorary awards go to a diverse group of people. The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, named for the fiercely independent, four-time CFDA Fashion Award winner, will be presented to Tommy Hilfiger.
The Media Award, given in honor of Eugenia Sheppard, the influential journalist who revolutionized fashion reporting with her reports in the New York City Herald Tribune, will be given to Scott Schuman & Garance Doré.
The Fashion Icon Award will given to Johnny Depp, the first male recipient to receive the award, for his personal and eclectic sense of style.
The Founders Award, given in honor of CFDA founder Eleanor Lambert who is widely credited with putting American fashion on the map, will go to Andrew Rosen.
The International Award will go to Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons for making an outstanding creative contribution to the world of fashion.
I love Spring makeup looks!!!!! Less is more and there seems to be a feminine ease to the looks. I enjoy the “pretty” as opposed to the “punch” of the look. Smooth as opposed to dramatic. My 2 favorite makeup looks for spring are the Red lip & neutral eye and the sun-kissed dewy doll face &peachy pink lip. Let me explain a little. I love a red lip but I really love when the eye is neutral to balance this look out, keeping all other makeup to a minimal while rocking the crimson lip looks WAY hotter than a crazy eye plus crazy lip. The doll face look is my ultimate favorite and it starts out with a ridiculous amount of mascara, a touch of bronzer and/or peachy or pink blush and an understated lip(pink,peach,nude). Also, it’s time to grow those brows out! Go easy on the plucking and take advantage of the only acceptable facial hair on a woman. YES clean up your natural brow, but please leave some behind (over plucking is so 1995) look up Pamela Anderson right now if you need a visual.
Tips:
BLUSH: You should never see where blush ends or begins. (blend & swipe don’t want a circle or a stripe)
BRONZER: you can overdo the bronzer if you’re not careful. Well placed bronzer looks great , when applying it put it where the sun would naturally hit your face first. This means the forehead near the hairline,the temples, the apples of your cheeks and the bridge of your nose.
OOPSY: when you look in the mirror and realize you over applied blush or bronzer, don’t fret you can either blot some off with a tissue or what I do is wipe my brush off with a tissue and go over the area and the “empty” brush will pick up the extra.

Yes it’s true, Naomi Campbell will exclusively walk in the Roberto Cavalli FW2012-2013 show in Milan that will take place Monday February 27th 2012!! The 41 year old model, who stars in the Cavalli Spring ad campaign has been walking the catwalk for over 26 years. I’m definitely looking forward to this show. The show will be streamed on the Maison Cavalli website http://www.robertocavalli.com/ .
New York Fashion week kicks off TODAY!!! The Semi-annual event is held in February and September. It’s one of four major fashion weeks held around the world(along with Paris,London and Milan). Designers will present their Fall/Winter 2012 collections and the who’s who of the fashion world will congregate in Lincoln Center for an amazing week of shows and even better parties. I’m especially looking forward to Narciso Rodriguez, Diane Von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Richard Chai, Charlotte Ronson, Jason wu, Vivienne Tam, L.A.M.B, Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang.
