Master Print Mixing!

20 Mar

Here is a clash course on mixing prints. Print mixing can be a little risky but with a little focus  this can be a very fashion forward look if well executed. I mean you can’t pile on prints and cross your fingers, you need to put some thought into it but it’s easier than you may think. Ok let’s get right into it….Rule #1 there are no rules! Really ! I mean we all know those fashionistas who live by “rules” and they’re missin’ out. If something looks great, it looks great  it’s as simple as that. I only have some simple suggestions to make this easier for you. When mixing prints I find you can look super chic or like a hot mess. Here are some of my suggestions to pull this look off with ease, followed by a LOT of pictures with plenty of examples to inspire your inner mix master. New to prints?? you can always buy a mixed media print top or dress so everything is already mixed for you. Throwing a printed scarf or animal print shoe in the mix is also an easy way to achieve this look.

COMMON THREAD

Literally find a common thread ,if your tweed coat has some navy in it and so does your striped dress……you’ve got a look! Adding a Navy polka dot clutch only makes the look BETTER!

MONOCHROMATIC

Having the main color of all your pieces be the same is the easiest way to mix prints. If you have a Pink and brown polka dot sweater and pink graphic pants and pink tribal flats, this works!

BIGGIE SMALLS

Big prints POP against smaller prints. Big stripes with little stripes and so on.

ALL IN THE FAMILY

Huge floral patterns pair perfect with little floral patterns as do different tribal patterns worn together, it just goes.

How to Wear High Low skirts

19 Mar

There’s something alluring about uneven hemlines. I really love this high low hem trend. I did a post on high low skirts a while back, but this time I wanted to focus on ways to wear them. It’s definitely harder to pull off than an uneven hem but doable for sure. I love these skirts worn 2 ways. Either worn with a blouse (tucked in or loose) and booties or worn with a tucked in tank top (with/without belt)and flats or wedges. Both are super cute, or you can try on different shoes until you find what’s best for you. Here are some  examples of my fav looks I mentioned earlier.

Orange Crush

18 Mar
I am loving orange at the moment. I love orange with navy, nude, black and other bright colors as well. If you like orange but don’t want to wear an entire dress or top you can always accessorize with orange for a pop of color. Below are some cute orange looks.Orange Crush
Here is how I’m wearing my orange accessories. I’m obsessed with this outfit. The black dress($17)and necklace ($12.95)are from H&M,The orange bag is from Forever21 and I recall it was $25? I featured it in a handbag post a while back. I wear it with either of these shoes depending on what kind of mood I’m in. The black ballet flat is the classic Reva by Tory Burch($195) and the sandals are by Matt Bernson($160) he is known for his handmade sandals and they’re really cute. I got these at Saks about 4 years ago but he still has many similar styles. Any sandal or flat will work with this look though:)

Must have Handbag!

17 Mar

The title reads right, I think if there should be at least 1 handbag every woman owns it would be a top handled structured bag with it’s classic silhouette. The practical shape is so timeless that you can go with a wild print or keep it simple and it will remain on trend for as long as you own it.  I’m a handbag addict and I still go back to my top handle structured bags time and time again. Wear with anything from jeans to dresses and it will never look out of  place. Shop my favorite splurges and steals.   YSL navy & beige bag($1,995) available at Nordstrom.  Louis Vuitton multicolored Speedy 30 with pocket detail shown in black and in white($2,670)available at Louis Vuitton.  Bold zig zag print bag in camel($50) available at Lulu’s. Tory Burch black Robinson bag($550) available at Tory Burch.  Brown bag($24.95)available at H&M.  Black printed bag($41.40) available at Urbanog.  Aldo coral Dockwiller bag($50) available at Aldo. Brown Louis Vuitton Speedy 30($775) available at Louis Vuitton.

Peaches N Cream

16 Mar

I love Peach and off white together, it’s a combo that can never go wrong. It’s also a great way to try color without stepping too far out of your comfort zone . Other wearing options…..Cream can be worn with pretty much any other color from black to red and everything in between. Peach looks great with other pastels*mint shown below and neutrals. Peach also looks stunning on olive and dark skin tones and while most fair skinned fashionistas have to be weary of pinks and reds, peach is very complimentary to lighter skin tones as well. Here are some cute looks to shop.  Peach 3/4 elasticized sleeve dress with matching belt($36) available at Lulu’s. Cream Valentino ruffle sleeve dress with bow detail($695) and Peach long sleeve Diane Von Furstenberg dress with self tie belt($398) both available at Saks.  Cream long sleeve shift dress with button detail at sleeve($34) available at Tobi.  Pleated peach dress with brown belt($19.80) and Cream blouson peplum top($19.80),pictured with mint pants, both available at Forever21. Cream lace open back dress($48) and peach and gold tone earring($12) both available at Nordstrom.
