Loving Lace

21 Feb

Lace is such a feminine and flirty detail on clothing . You don’t  have to be super girly to rock the lace look though, it works as long as you don’t go crazy with it. The key is to wear only 1 wardrobe piece covered in lace or you can end up looking like a doilie. I also prefer to stick to solid accessories when wearing lace, I like the lace to be the main focus as I would with a printed dress. Here are some lace looks you can try. Blue dress($42) and almond& black peplum dress($50) both available at Tobi.  Lace detail tank with sash($19.80) and Peach dress($19.80) both available at Forever21.  Rose blazer($51) available at Lulus.  White strapless dress($278) available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

London Fashion Week Hit With Burberry Showers

21 Feb

London fashion week is in full swing and definitely peeked Monday with the blockbuster show presented by Burberry Prorsom .  Christopher Bailey surpassed my expectations with the traditional english theme. There were plenty of riding  jackets, as well as wool and tweed in muted and earthy colors. There was no shortage of feminine detail. Studded gloves, belts and bows were everywhere:)   There were also quite a few different (but totally cute)takes on the trench coat Burberry is famous for.  It was the most entertaining show thus far complete with clear confetti “rain” and a finale of umbrella toting models on the catwalk. I loved this show!!!

Blazer Fever

20 Feb

Blazers aren’t just for old dudes anymore.  They are an easy way to add some zest to your outfit without looking like you tried. From double or single breasted to open and flowy, there is a blazer for you.  The easiest look to incorporate your blazer into is a T-shirt or tank and skinny Jeans. A flowy/silky shirt works as well. Wear with heels or flats and add a statement necklace  for a bit of glam.  A structured top handle bag always compliments this look. Here are some of my favorite Blazers right now.  white ($107.43) and navy($116.38) both available at Asos.  Beige open front($29.80) and peach($24.80) both available at Forever21. Red button up($445) available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

How sweet it is

20 Feb

It is no surprise that Steven Meisel was behind the lens of the latest Louis Vuitton sweet Spring/Summer  ad campaign .  The ice cream parlor theme has me wanting a banana split….. and a handbag of course.

Make that necklace your own

20 Feb

Have you seen a necklace that you like and passed it up because it wasn’t exactly what you were looking for?  Next time BUY the necklace and make it your own. As long as the necklace is held together by little metal circles called jump rings then you can work with it. You can also fix broken necklaces as long as they have a jump ring.  You  will only need Pliers, preferably needle nose, I found these huge ones in my junk drawer but they still worked. Gently twist the jump ring apart and remove the link(s) you don’t want. Here are some pics of my latest necklace makeover. Might I add, if I can do this, anybody can. I am so not crafty.

I really liked the necklace, but it was a little unbalanced for me and longer than I wanted.

Riding Boots

18 Feb

Riding boots are perfect for day or night.  They look cute with skinny jeans or leggings and a T shirt , a button up flannel or sweater .  They work with a flowy printed dress as well, as long as it hits above the knee for a bit of separation from dress & boot. Here are some boots to help achieve that equestrian chic look.  Frye Campus boot ($298)available at Piperlime.  Knee high buckle boot in black($36.20) available at UrbanOG.  Dolce Vita “Georgia” buckle boot ( I own these and they are my favorite riding boots)in cognac($299) available at Shoes.com.  Boot with button detail in camel($69.99) available at Target.

Cute Calendar Necklace

The calendar necklace by dallanonna is one of my favorite necklaces. The cool thing about them is you can choose your own metal,  month and the date to be marked with the gemstone of your choice. Great for anniversaries, birth of a baby, birthday, engagements and weddings. Such a neat way to remember that special date, whatever it may be. Prices range from $150 for silver to $700 for rose gold. Available at Dallanonna.com

Wrist Candy

16 Feb

Let’s talk bracelets!   At this moment I am really liking the stacked look.  Load your wrist with anything from stone accented bracelets to stacks of matching or mixed media bangles and  Bright leather bracelets for a pop of color. Adding an oversized “boyfriend” watch or a double wrap watch( my 2 favorites) only help to achieve this stacked look.  The more the merrier.   Bronze set($14) and Silver set($58)  both available at Nordstrom. Navy and rose wrap watch with attached bracelets($188) available at Lamer. Leather bracelet with gold hardware Tory Burch($95) available at NordstromMy wrist candy right now… Michael Kors watch, Hermes wrap bracelet and Forever21 bangles.  Michael Kors gold watch($180) available at Nordstrom.
