Street Fair Shout Out!

22 Aug

This past Weekend I went to Hester Goes Hollywood, a cool street fair with live music, food trucks and fabulous jewelry and clothing finds.  I was overwhelmed at the amount of cute stuff!  I overspent but left VERY happy. I made sure to grab a card at every vendor that I LOVED and now I’m going to share them with you.

Shoppublik. I loved their hanging spike bracelet and the zipper bracelet.

Agapanthanyc. I really like their use of vintage watch parts in their jewelry and their hammer necklace.

Visantine Collective. Great pieces and great construction. They had an amazing jacket, one of the best I’ve seen in quite sometime.

LeFashionTruck.  I scored on some amazing two toned faceted teardrop earrings. Plus it’s so fun shopping in that cute pink truck….and YES there is a dressing room inside as well.

Threeheartz. Great head wraps and infinity scarf collection as well as fun jewelry.

Bib & Collar Necklaces

15 Aug

Statement necklaces are a great way to add a bit of flair to a look and are an easy way to look effortlessly glamorous.  I’m a such fan of bib and collar necklaces, they  tend to sit up high on the neck (grazing the collarbone) and look great with dresses, tanks, t-shirts or over a buttoned up chambray or sweater.  I love how they can literally be worn as a collar, which is a fun twist on an otherwise normal necklace.  My only tip is to keep the neckline simple as to not take away from the necklace ( no busy patterned shirts etc) Below are some necklaces for you to shop.

Sequined collar necklace($9.90) and Cutout leaf necklace($5.80) both available at Forever21.

Agate and brass bead bib necklace($58) available at Anthropologie.

Chain & rhinestone bib necklace($20) and Ebony jeweled necklace($298) both available at Nordstrom.

Silver feather necklace($23) available at Lulu’s.

Hammered metal collar($18) and Aruba collar necklace($38) both available at Nastygal.

Gold tone snake-skin crescent bib necklace($16.80) and bead & spike necklace($30.80) both available at kohl’s.

All Things Wedding! (Part 1)

2 Aug

Brides to be and fairytale fans alike, this two part post is for you.  Last year as I planned my Summer wedding I quickly noticed I kept returning to images…… images of anything to do with weddings. People would suggest articles and advice columns to help but I already knew what I wanted, I just needed more ideas.  These ideas for me were in the form of pictures, I would surf the web day and night looking at wedding stuff and eventually it helped me when I decided on a dress,  cake, bouquets , hairstyle and shoes.  If you read my ‘with this bling’ post,  you know that even my wedding ring was inspired from a picture of a Neil Lane stunner that I came across while online. Hopefully this post of only pictures will give you ideas for your wedding or at least get you in the wedding mood!  Cheers.

My new favorite teeny tiny bracelet

7 Jun

As you all know I love stacking my bracelets, the more the merrier. I do however really like dainty pieces of jewelry as well and my newest love is this tiny skull bracelet by Iwona Ludyga. It’s 14k gold on a small chain bracelet or on a colorful silk cord, with or without diamond eyes. They are so cute and make  a statement whether worn alone or in a “tiny” stack. If you’ve liked the skull trend but have been scared of it, this bracelet is a perfect way to wear it. Not too over the top at all.

I prefer it with a cartier Love bracelet of course;)

Shop these dainty bracelets at Iwona Ludyga Designs.  14k skull on chain bracelet with diamond eyes ($290) or without diamonds ($245).On a silk cord without diamond eyes ($90).

Close up.

Black Diamonds! Yes Please!

22 May

Carbonado, commonly known as black diamonds are growing in popularity. Let’s start by saying that diamonds come in an array of beautiful colors and black diamonds are REAL diamonds, they just have a different crystalline structure. The single crystalline structure of a conventional diamond is what causes the sparkle. Light comes in, bounces around and is bounced out. They are cut in a way to put “windows” precisely where the light will be able to come out best giving it the “fire” that you see. Black diamonds however have a Polycrystalline structure kind of like a bunch of diamonds smashed together. Since they’re all at different angles, they cannot be carved to create sparkles, instead the light gets absorbed making it black. Black diamonds still have a pretty sparkle all their own subtle, yet bold.

The origin of black diamonds is controversial, the National Science Foundation states that carbonado originated in outer space. Whatever the case may be, I’m in love with black diamonds and they’re edgy-chic vibe. They always make a strong statement. I am also a fan of jewelry that involves pave’.   Pave’ involves setting small diamonds  side by side on a piece of jewelry. The diamonds are so close together that it looks as though the surface is covered in diamonds. The original french word  is pronounced pahvay and meant pave, as in paving streets. As for jewelry it will look like it’s literally been paved with diamonds, SO PRETTY!

My favorite pieces right now.

Black diamond pave’ band with black rhodium plating over gold ($2,000) Pyramid stud earring with black pave’ diamonds set in black rhodium plating over gold($1,200 per stud) Both available at LYON Fine Jewelry.

Heart & arrow earrings set in 14k gold, heart set with pave’ black diamonds ($378) and black diamond tiny initial necklace set in 14k gold($356) both available at Zoe Chicco.

Arrow ‘IVO’ ring  set in oxidized sterling silver with pave’ black diamonds($136) available for pre-order now at Workhorse Jewelry.

Billboard Awards Best Dressed!

21 May

Last night celebrities flocked to sin city for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. I was super excited to see all the looks but was left wanting more *:( total sad face. I did, however manage to find 3 looks that I loved.

Carrie Underwood wore a grey and rose strapless Oscar de La Renta gown with a giant tulle skirt. I must admit I think her look was completely out of place  for these awards BUT she looked GORGEOUS and her hair and makeup was perfect. If I could snap my fingers, she would have worn this to the Oscars instead.

I loved her fun Oscar De La Renta clutch and her undone nails as well The colorful clutch and that canary sparkler were enough dont’cha think?

Taylor swift wore a beautiful red Elie Saab gown, total understated elegance. I liked the fact that she switched up the hair for the evening, swapping her trademark curls for a sleeker look.

My best dressed of the night goes to Alicia Keys. She wore a simple black body con Azzedine Alaia dress and let her jewelry do the talking. She was impeccably accessorized in a cool multi ring earcuff by Repossi and a hand piece by Jennifer Fisher. I also loved her red lip with minimal eye makeup and matching nails! So chic!

If you’re loving this earcuff, but not loving the $5,000 price tag, Asos has a similar earcuff for less than $14.

Stacked Wrist

17 May

I have said it before and I’ll say it again…..I’m a serial stacker when it comes to wrist candy. There is almost always a party on my arm. I do once in a while keep it simple with 1 cuff or a few bangles but overall I like to keep it crazy. I am not a fan of rules but I don’t advocate throwing everything you own on your wrist all at once, try to keep some form of organization. That being said, don’t be afraid to mix your metals, textures and materials. I love mixing rose gold and silver, yellow gold and wood, colorful stones with leather etc. Just keep it all uniform with complimentary colors. I love including a watch in my stacks as well. Here are pictures of some stacks to inspire you!  Happy stacking!!!!!  and remember………Price does not matter….. Mix a $2 bangle with your $10,000 watch, it’s still cute and that’s what matters. Some of my favorite wrist wear is $10 bucks or less!

P.S. When I’m playing in my jewelry armoire and create a new stack, I take a picture, so I don’t forget it. It’s very helpful.

My stack today: Rose & silver textured bangles, Aldo. Watch, Chopard. Plug bracelet, Asos.

Rose Gold Love

16 Apr

I may be the biggest fan of rose gold on earth……. My very first diamond ring was a black hills gold ring for my 15th birthday. It was a yellow and rose gold setting with one teeny tiny diamond, I fell in love when I saw that ring. My mom opened up a can of worms with that one for sure. I have never stopped loving rose gold since that day. My wedding set is rose gold, so I’m committed for life. I have seen rose gold go in and out of style and it’s been back in style for a couple of years now and I am excited about it. I will be rocking the rose gold  even if it goes “out” of style again, hopefully it doesn’t. Anyways enough about my obsession and onto the facts!   Whether it is costume or the real deal, every woman should own at least one rose gold accessory.  Rose gold is versatile, classic, feminine and modern. It goes with yellow and silver metals and looks great on all skin tones. Here are some beautiful styles to shop.
