Jenna Lyons Named Woman of The Year by Glamour
4 NovIt is no surprise that super stylish creative director of J.Crew, Jenna Lyons, was named one of Glamour’s women of the year. The 44-year-old inspiration started as a fashion assistant at J. Crew in 1990, worked her way up the old fashioned way and was named creative director of the mega-brand in 2007. Myself and many others know J.Crew would NOT be where they are today without Lyons, it’s just a fact. Not only is she the brains behind the brand, but also their most recognizable model. Her style is uniquely casual yet polished, she has mastered the balance of masculine and feminine pieces while mixing textures effortlessly like no other. Thick rimmed glasses, middle parted hair and red lips were also a signature part of her look long before the trendy hipster crowds claimed it. She is a style icon without a doubt, Glamour is spot on with this one!

3 NovBalmain is known for their endless embellishments and overall rock ‘n’ roll vibe, but when Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing teamed up with jeweler Aurélie Bidermann, the pair created a calm classy carryall…… Introducing Pierre, Balmain’s debut handbag named after the famed founder of the french fashion house. Made of suede and available in either grey, cherry, or natural, Pierre comes complete with an ivory leather interior and is adorned with a faux ivory tooth for a bit of edge. Just like Balmain clothing, Pierre won’t be easy to acquire. The bag comes with a hefty $4,350 price tag and will be exclusively available at Barneys New York, Harrods and the Balmain Paris store.

The Original Stylish Crossbody Bag

Since the original Cambridge Satchel was introduced in 2008 it’s been a cult favorite among the fashion crowd, bloggers went absolutely crazy for it. The academic silhouette a la book bag style can be dressed up or dressed down and the cross body style is perfect if you need your hands free to shop etc. It’s a perfectly stylish mom bag for that reason. Made in the UK, these bags come in a variety of sizes and colors including metallic, neon and pastels. I consider this bag a MUST HAVE in your collection. The Cambridge Satchel Co. has a variety of bags available and they also have a great clearance section that includes bags with slight flaws that are noted.
Cambridge bags are very reasonably priced and very well made bag (usually $120-$220) If you don’t already own one of these timeless bags, I suggest you make it happen. You will be glad you did!
…but don’t you fret if that’s out of your budget……Steve Madden makes a very similar buckled bag for about half the price and it’s on sale at Nordstrom!!!!! YAY!

29 OctHere are some very feminine looks from the Prabal Gurung for Target collection. Actors Olivia Thirlby and Chris Conroy will star in the ad campaign as a lovey dovey couple, aaaaaaawwww! On Sunday Thirlby, Conroy and Gurung were spotted in the west Village shooting the upcoming campaign. Collection launches November 10th.
Grace Coddington’s New Book
28 OctGrace Coddington is one of the original players in this fashion game, fashionistas all over the world admire and respect the style icon and are anticipating the upcoming release of her memoir Grace: A Memoir . If you’re expecting a juicy tell all, you will be disappointed. “I’m not telling secret stories” Coddington said “not writing ugly things to get back at anyone. This book’s not gossipy”. The 71-year-old creative director of American Vogue took the high road on this one choosing to keep the gist of the book quite positive and that is very refreshing in such a cut throat industry. The book will be based from her lifelong diaries and will include a few of her own hand drawn illustrations as well. Set for release on November 20th 2012 , the book is available at Amazon.
