NYFW Monique Lhuillier S/S 2013

9 Sep

Monique Lhuillier’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

Known for her usual white and ivory wedding gowns, Lhuillier made great use of teals, blues and fuchsias, in what seemed to be an ocean inspired collection. With only a few separates, her main focus was dresses, very beautiful dresses!

NYFW Charlotte Ronson S/S 2013 Collection

8 Sep

New York Fashion Week continues…….

Here are some looks from the Charlotte Ronson Spring/Summer 2013 collection. She used prints and leather beautifully while leaving no shortage of color pale yellowsblues and pinks. I loved all of the wedges and the use of oversized handbags was a fun, yet funky addition as well.

Let’s start with my FAVORITES… I couldn’t choose one.  I have 3!

I loved this peplum lace dress with black stripe detail.

This cutout color block dress had amazing movement on the runway.

This sky and water print peplum is to die for, so pretty.

Pretty Teal Eyeliner

20 Aug

Eyeliner is a definite must have product, waking your face up and instantly making your eyes POP!  One  swoop of colored liner brings a WOW factor to your eyes!  If you don’t really wear colored shadows, eyeliner is your “gateway” product.  I love all colors but am partial to teal,  the beautiful hue goes with many skin tones and eye colors as well.  A teal lined eye is bright and fun while remaining very wearable.  Simply put, it is pretty on everyone.

Teal eyeliner comes in a variety of forms… good old-fashioned pencil, liquid, gel and cream.  Whatever formula you prefer is just fine to achieve this look. You’re not out of luck if you don’t own any of these because as long as you have a flat eyeshadow brush and teal shadow, you can substitute it instead of liner for a similar look.

Some of the many ways to wear teal eyeliner:

Upper lash line

Lower lash line/water line

Rim the entire eye

Pair with neutral eyeshadow (looks great with bronzes, beiges & taupes)

From low-key to dramatic, below are some examples of the many ways to wear this mermaid-chic look. Take note on how great this looks on all skin tones, eye shapes and colors.

Shop these eyeliners.

Urban decay 24/7 waterproof liquid liner in teal($19) Lancome Gel eyeliner in teal/turquoise($24.50) MakeUpForEver Aqua eyes pencil in turquoise($18) Sephora wateroof cream liner in electric teal($12) all available at Sephora.

Coach Goes Back To Basics

30 Jul

Coach has returned to its roots with their highly anticipated fall 2012 Legacy Collection .   Complete with tassels and turn locks the timeless collection is retro inspired from the coach archives, revamped with modern touches.  The (Nearly logo free) collection includes everything from shoes to trenches to wallets and handbags.  The handbags vary from slouchy to structured and come in every color  and silhouette imaginable.   Last year Coach reissued some classic bags and they were a huge success!  If that’s any hint, this collection should be flying off the shelves in no time!  I think going back to the type of bags that originally landed them with a huge fan base is the best thing Coach could have ever done, they really went a little “C” crazy for a while there didn’t they?  The collection is currently available online and has begun trickling into stores. The complete collection will be available in stores August 1st. Prices range from $50-$1,000 with handbags starting at $178. Shop online now at Coach.

Floral Jeans

8 Jul

As the proud new owner of floral jeans I wanted to do a post that would inspire you to get a pair as well.  I did have floral jeans as a kid but this is my first pair in my adulthood.  Floral is so fun and they come in many color combos from grey to brights to colorful pastels, it’s up to you.  I purchased a grey Current/Elliott pair(#4 below), yes I was bold enough for the print but not bold enough for color…..baby steps!  I wore mine with a white v neck and pink sandals and plan to wear them into Fall with bold blues and blacks.  As far as shoes, they look great with sandals, flats, wedges and heels! When wearing floral jeans, my only advice is to pair them with solid pieces so that the jeans are on a stage of their own.  Below are some ideas on how to wear them and also some pairs to shop. Enjoy!

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding (Dresses fit for the occasion)

12 Jun

Wedding season is upon us and the invites should be arriving in your mail boxes around this time. The dreaded question is always “what do I wear to a summer wedding?” You want to look great without taking away from the bride, that’s the goal. You want something that can easily transition from day to evening without being overdressed. A lot of summer weddings are outdoors so that brings a sense of “casual” that you just don’t have during other seasons, and that is great to work with when deciding on an outfit.

Let’s start with some basics

Do

* Wear sleeveless, you won’t overheat

*wear something sexy, yet tasteful

*wear pretty polka dots, fun florals and summer colors like greens, peaches, yellows and pinks.

*keep a wrap or pashmina in the car for transition to evening

Don’t

*wear anything too low cut

*wear white, unless the bride specifies

*wear a tight dress, fitted is different from tight. If you wouldn’t wear it in front of grandma, don’t wear it to a wedding.

P.S. heels are totally acceptable, even if you have to practice walking in grass first!

Skirts and tops always work for weddings but I prefer dresses, I think a dress, even a “casual” style brings a sense of grace to your look and appears a bit more polished. Also, when you involve separates you basically increase the chance for disaster with each piece you add, and so much more thought has to go into it. 1 piece is easier than 2, it’s as simple as that.
