H&M Campaign Starring Plus Sized Model!

21 May

In real life 24-year-old model, Jennie Runk is average sized, but in the modeling world, she’s considered plus sized.  The 5’10”  size 12/14 beauty is the star of H&M’s Summer swimwear campaign- the first for a plus sized model.  H&M does have a plus sized collection and uses plus sized models but they have never gone into bathing suit territory with anybody larger than a size 6.  Turns out- people like it and they like it a lot!!!! There has been a positive outpouring of support in regards to this latest campaign and that’s a step in the right direction as far as I’m concerned.  Women come in all shapes sizes and it’s great seeing representation for all of us. Below are some images from the campaign.

Kate Upton: Vogue

13 May

Kate Upton has been everywhere lately from Sports Illustrated to Vogue, she’s been a very busy woman.  Once in a while she’ll do an editorial that isn’t so “hooters” looking and they  always turn out amazing! The 20 year old’s latest Vogue shoot features her clad in Summertime styles.

In the issue, Upton spoke of her now-famous curves “I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life,” she tells the magazine. “I love my body. It’s what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great.”  The Vogue June issue hits stands May 21.

Bikini Evolution

17 Jul

This month marks the 66th birthday of the bikini! In 1946 July 5th to be exact French designer Louis Réard introduced the daring two piece to the world. So daring that at first Parisian models refused to wear his design. However a dancer named Micheline Bernardini took on the challenge and became the first woman ever to wear a bikini, sparking a trend that would never end. The bikini has been ever-changing since it’s debut in the 1940’s, let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Contrary to the latest Sports Illustrated cover, not everyone is wearing tiny string bikinis. There are many different styles being worn today.  I love how there is no definition of the “now” bikini. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, materials and cuts!  Cheers to variety!
