The high square neck balanced the criss cross open back PERFECTLY!!!!!!! I’m in love with this dress and think it was a perfect summer choice!

NYFW Jason Wu F/W 2013

8 Feb

Not even a blizzard could stop Jason Wu  from filling up a beautiful Park Avenue venue to present his Fall 2013 collection Friday. Despite weather worries, a full house of spectators gazed in awe at one of the most anticipated collections of New York fashion week.  There was an essence of elegance and glamour and the clothes were sexy and sophisticated.  The mostly black a white palette included crisp collars, belted waists and pleated skirts !  I especially loved the makeup led by Lancome’s Diane Kendal, who created beautiful looks consisting of  bold indigo cat eyes with muted lips and cheeks.  This show was pretty amazing, nothing new for Mr. Wu!

New York Fashion Week is here!!!!!!! (Jason Wu Collection)

7 Sep

Hot off the tails of Fashion’s Night out…..New york Fashion Week is in full swing.  New york will host eight glorious days of fashion, before the fashion crowds head to London, Milan and Paris.

Jason Wu  presented  his Spring/Summer 2013 collection Friday.  Celebrating the woman’s silhouette, this collection had modern sex appeal, and a perfectly balanced contrast of hard & soft elements represented mostly with leather and lace although tulle and other sheer materials were present as well.  Most of the collection was black and white with some pops of navy and red.  I usually like a lot more color for S/S but this collection worked for me and I wouldn’t change a thing. Hair and makeup was perfect,  I was fond of the ruby-red lips and sleek side swept hair, which was beautifully done without being distracting. My absolute favorite moment was when legendary model Carolyn Murphy opened the show in her beautiful leather sheath dress. Amazing!

As for the collection, Wu said he was inspired by two photographers with differing styles — Helmut Newton’s erotically charged imagery and Lillian Bassman’s soft dream-like imagery. “It’s two completely different styles. One’s quite beautiful, couture and the other is quite provocative and sexy and I love the idea of those two coming together a softness and a hardness coming together and I wanted to make a collection that sort of balanced, just teetered on that line of sexy but still sophisticated,” he said. Prim and proper Jason Wu Collaborates with Provocative La Perla. The designer enlisted La Perla this season to add a sexy touch to his super-feminine looks……   “They understood my vision for the Spring collection and went above and beyond my expectations in creating the most luxurious accent pieces to go with my designs,” said Wu on working with the lingerie brand.  Spring 2013 just got sexy!

Crazy for Clutches (Splurges)

22 Feb

Clutches may be small, but they can make a HUGE impact on your look.  Clutches are my favorite accessory, I’m kinda obsessed actually.  They  transition from day to evening easily and come in a variety of sizes so you don’t have to worry about limited space.  Clutches are a perfect way to experiment with a color or material you would never wear and still feel comfortable.  If you want to try the latest neon trend, start with a clutch. Spikes, studs, animal prints and wild colors  are doable when they’re a clutch.  If you don’t have a clutch, I suggest you get one, I think you’ll be hooked too:) Pink Jason Wu python embossed($895) available at Nordstrom.  Navy Yves Saint Laurent clutch($845) ,Woven Burberry Prorsum clutch with buckle detail($1,295), Fendi fold over clutch in lemon($840), Alexander McQueen skull box clutch($2,295) all available at Saks Fifth Avenue. Orange Hermes clutch($2,500) available at Hermes.com. lavender Balenciaga clutch($1,065) available at Barneys.com

Jason Wu & BBQ

10 Feb

Jason Wu for Target was a complete success!   My shopping  list read Jason Wu & BBQ sauce (really). I was able to find everything and more.  I pulled up to the store at 7:45 a.m. and waited in  line, the store opened at 8a.m. and  the crowd was under control except one dude who elbowed his way through grabbing 3 of everything, ignoring the 2 limit rule. I had the best time in the dressing room, we were all  trading tops, dresses, bags etc.  It was pretty cool. Can’t wait to see the next Target/Designer collaboration. Gone are the days of designer duds remaining in the store for weeks after the debut. I remember Richard Chai, Zac Posen, Rodarte, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston and Rogan pieces STILL being at target a MONTH later, Sometimes in the clearance section!  What the heck happened? 😦 Sadly, if you are not at target the day these collections debut, your pretty much out of luck.
