Phillip Lim For Target LookBook!!!!!!!

14 Aug

Unless you’ve been living under a fashion rock, you KNOW about the upcoming Phillip Lim and Target collaboration (If not, click HERE for more info)  you must check out the pictures below. Target unveiled the lookbook for the collection and I’m sharing my FAVORITES with you!  Like I mentioned in my previous post about this collection, I am ALL ABOUT the accessories!  The scarves and bags are pretty amazing and there is an almost identical version of the Pashli bag for $35!!!!!!

I get sooooo excited about these designer collaborations because it’s really a great way for the everyday fashionista to get her hands on designer pieces, and it brings  high-end designers into every home.  I hear different opinions on this topic sometimes and thought I’d share my opinion.  I hold a firm the belief that it’s great all the way around from designer to consumer.  Of course nothing in these collaborations is “handmade” or made with the best material money can buy, but sometimes it’s NOT about spending the most money!  True fashion lovers know that at the end of the day, fashion is about design and ideas- a particular designer’s artistic spin on a piece of clothing or an accessory.  We pay to wear this art and to make personal statements with it! These collaborations use affordable and more accessible materials and mass produce the pieces to come down to a low price point, but other than that you are STILL purchasing a piece of the designer’s art -in this case Phillip Lim spent months brainstorming and sketching this collection-and that my friends IS FASHION!!!!!! As a lover of high- end and low-end fashion, I feel that mixing is the best way to go! I never buy a piece simply because of the designer label and never pass up a piece simply because of the non designer label! Basically, I will wear Louboutins with a Forever21 dress!!!!!  In other words- if I love it, I buy it and you should too!

Don’t forget to mark your calendars!!!!!!! September 15th!

Rebecca Minkoff will be opening a freestanding boutique in NYC.  Last March the stylish designer opened a 3,000 square foot flagship store in Tokyo, but this will be the brand’s first on American soil.  The soho shop will feature her amazing accessories, clothes and more and will take over the space currently occupied by Kirna Zabete as they will be moving to a larger location.  The shop is set to open in next Spring. Minkettes…….. are you excited??????  Not a Minkette yet?   Then check out this post I did a while back featuring her accessories that I absolutely adore!!!

Happy October!

1 Oct

It’s October 1st and (in my closet) the official launch of Fall.  I live in sunny California so full Fall clothes in September are a no- go, But now that it’s October, the weather is slightly cooling allowing for a few more layers.  It’s time for scarves, boots, sweaters, oversized handbags and statement jewelry!!!!!  Here are some amazing Fall looks for inspiration!!!!

Like what you see?  Stay tuned for upcoming posts on boots and scarves!!!!!

NYFW Rebecca Minkoff S/S 2013

8 Sep

Some looks from Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.  Minkoff played well with prints and slightly distressed denim, she included her super cute handbags as well.

I especially loved this tied top with denim shorts.

New York Fashion Week is here!!!!!!! (Jason Wu Collection)

7 Sep

Hot off the tails of Fashion’s Night out…..New york Fashion Week is in full swing.  New york will host eight glorious days of fashion, before the fashion crowds head to London, Milan and Paris.

Jason Wu  presented  his Spring/Summer 2013 collection Friday.  Celebrating the woman’s silhouette, this collection had modern sex appeal, and a perfectly balanced contrast of hard & soft elements represented mostly with leather and lace although tulle and other sheer materials were present as well.  Most of the collection was black and white with some pops of navy and red.  I usually like a lot more color for S/S but this collection worked for me and I wouldn’t change a thing. Hair and makeup was perfect,  I was fond of the ruby-red lips and sleek side swept hair, which was beautifully done without being distracting. My absolute favorite moment was when legendary model Carolyn Murphy opened the show in her beautiful leather sheath dress. Amazing!

As for the collection, Wu said he was inspired by two photographers with differing styles — Helmut Newton’s erotically charged imagery and Lillian Bassman’s soft dream-like imagery. “It’s two completely different styles. One’s quite beautiful, couture and the other is quite provocative and sexy and I love the idea of those two coming together a softness and a hardness coming together and I wanted to make a collection that sort of balanced, just teetered on that line of sexy but still sophisticated,” he said. My favorite look!

Louis Vuitton & Yayoi Kusama (first look)

4 Jun

Louis Vuitton has teamed up with Yayoi Kusama, a spunky 83-year-old Japanese artist known as the polka dot princess. Kusama is highly respected  as being a voice for the avant-garde. Her art is so sought after that in 2008 Christies New york sold a piece by her for $5.1 million, a record for a living female artist. Her polka-dotted collection named infinitely Kusama will appear on handbags, clothing and accessories this Summer (July 10th), so be ready to channel your inner Minnie Mouse!

The fashion industry has been buzzing about this collaboration for some time, and now the French fashion house has released  some photos of the collaborative collection.

Kusama’s work will also be featured in an exhibit at the Whitney Museum  in New York July 12th through September 30,2012. For more information click HERE.
