André Leon Talley To Leave Vogue

Vogue and flamboyant contributor André Leon Talley are parting ways after 3 fashion filled decades.  Word on the street is that Talley has signed on to host his own late night talk show.  The split is said to be amicable as Talley will remain somewhat involved with the fashion bible we call Vogue but wants to focus full-time on the talk show.  Is this the end of an era?  In my opinion YES!  Talley is synonymous with Vogue and all things fashion for that matter.  Do I look forward to his array of fashion forward talk show guests? YES! Can’t wait to watch!Andre

When I think of Vogue I will always think of Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and André Leon Talley!

CONFIRMED: Alexander Wang to Head Up Balenciaga!

Although the news won’t  be officially announced until next week, it has been confirmed that 28-year-old Alexander Wang known for his clean yet edgy aesthetic has landed the job as Balenciaga’s new Creative Director.  Rumors have been swirling for some time as Wang was a top candidate for the position. In just five years, Wang’s own label has become very successful and his creations have plenty of commercial appeal. His shoes and handbags are top-sellers as well as  his diffusion line T by Alexander Wang. He will have his work cut out for him juggling this new position in addition to his steadily growing label, but I think he’ll do just fine!

Proenza Schouler’s New Lust Worthy Bag

‘Bag ladies’ all know and love the PS1 bag by Proenza Schouler, well now it’s time for you to meet the PS1’s big sister…..the PS13 from their resort’13 collection!  Although the bags are totally different in design, they accomplish the same goal- a casually chic feel of understated elegance.  A bag like this only comes around once in a while.  Think about it, most designer bags appear to be designer bags while Proenza Schouler has mastered the “normal” extraordinary everyday bag that you can get away with wearing to the grocery store without looking silly.  I love how the top handles are sturdy and you have the option to wear as a shoulder bag also. The front flap pocket and backside zip pockets are great as well….. accessing keys, gum or a cell phone without going into the main bag is always a plus.  I must admit I will always be loyal to the PS1, but this new bag is pretty amazing as well.

Rebecca Minkoff to Open Store in NYC

Rebecca Minkoff will be opening a freestanding boutique in NYC.  Last March the stylish designer opened a 3,000 square foot flagship store in Tokyo, but this will be the brand’s first on American soil.  The soho shop will feature her amazing accessories, clothes and more and will take over the space currently occupied by Kirna Zabete as they will be moving to a larger location.  The shop is set to open in next Spring. Nars Launches New skin Care Line

Nars  cosmetics is launching a skin care line that will rival their already amazing makeup line.  The line called Narsskin  is a 9 product collection that is a major update of the brand’s original skin care products, including anti-aging benefits light reflecting properties and improved formulas overall.

The new line will first be available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue on August 9 and will be carried in about 200 department and specialty stores come September.

MAC Expands Nail Color Collection!

Until now MAC has only offered 8 shades of nail color in its permanent collection.  The other shades we fell in love with were limited editions and others rotated in and out.

30 shades hit Nordstrom and MAC stores July 5 some new, some re-released and another 35 shades will hit stores August 2 bringing the total to a whopping 65 shades!!!!!!!  MAC is officially a player in the lucrative nail polish game!  The polishes come in three finishes-pearl, frost and cream and retail for $16.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s New Coke Bottle Revealed!

After being named creative director of Diet Coke, YES you read that right, Jean Paul Gaultier revealed two haute bottle designs. One bottle is a day nautical theme and one is a night burlesque theme.  Now the highly anticipated third bottle has been unveiled in a tattoo theme. The bottles are available across nine countries in Europe starting this month. Cute!

Marc Jacobs + Sephora = upcoming makeup Line = :)

Following in the footsteps of Mr. Tom Ford, fashion designer extraordinaire  and Louis Vuitton creative Director Marc Jacobs has his eyes set on something new, a color cosmetics line aka MAKEUP! OMG is it true? Yes it’s true ! Jacobs and cosmetic giant Sephora had a meeting last week to discuss the collection. A launch date hasn’t been decided and there are few details as of yet but I will let you know as soon as my “little birdie” gets back to me;)  This is very exciting news for the beauty world!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In other Marc Jacobs news: Jacobs is set to launch a new scent, Dot complete with lady bug bottle. Available this August.  This new scent has a vanilla and creamy musk base, with notes of red berries, honeysuckle, jasmine ,orange blossom and coconut water. mmmmmmm smells like vacation to me!
