Bib & Collar Necklaces

15 Aug

Statement necklaces are a great way to add a bit of flair to a look and are an easy way to look effortlessly glamorous.  I’m a such fan of bib and collar necklaces, they  tend to sit up high on the neck (grazing the collarbone) and look great with dresses, tanks, t-shirts or over a buttoned up chambray or sweater.  I love how they can literally be worn as a collar, which is a fun twist on an otherwise normal necklace.  My only tip is to keep the neckline simple as to not take away from the necklace ( no busy patterned shirts etc) Below are some necklaces for you to shop.

Sequined collar necklace($9.90) and Cutout leaf necklace($5.80) both available at Forever21.

Agate and brass bead bib necklace($58) available at Anthropologie.

Chain & rhinestone bib necklace($20) and Ebony jeweled necklace($298) both available at Nordstrom.

Silver feather necklace($23) available at Lulu’s.

Hammered metal collar($18) and Aruba collar necklace($38) both available at Nastygal.

Gold tone snake-skin crescent bib necklace($16.80) and bead & spike necklace($30.80) both available at kohl’s.

The Year Round Blazer: White

13 Aug

Looking for a trans-seasonal blazer that will complete any look?  Look no further, a crisp white blazer will be there for you when you’re in fashion need and  can be dressed up or down.  White blazers are just as much a wardrobe essential as are black blazers and can be worn over dresses, with shorts, with jeans(wide leg or skinny) or anything really.  With Fall just around the corner, there is no need to put away your white blazer, this is a great piece that carries over into Winter and beyond.  I know we’ve all heard the saying…. but, no white after Labor day is an outdated fashion rule that’s not only been broken on countless runways in the last decade, but has practically been re written; hello! Winter white. It is A-okay to wear white after labor day!!!!!!

Below are some great ways to rock a white blazer anytime of the year.

Floral Jeans

8 Jul

As the proud new owner of floral jeans I wanted to do a post that would inspire you to get a pair as well.  I did have floral jeans as a kid but this is my first pair in my adulthood.  Floral is so fun and they come in many color combos from grey to brights to colorful pastels, it’s up to you.  I purchased a grey Current/Elliott pair(#4 below), yes I was bold enough for the print but not bold enough for color…..baby steps!  I wore mine with a white v neck and pink sandals and plan to wear them into Fall with bold blues and blacks.  As far as shoes, they look great with sandals, flats, wedges and heels! When wearing floral jeans, my only advice is to pair them with solid pieces so that the jeans are on a stage of their own.  Below are some ideas on how to wear them and also some pairs to shop. Enjoy!

not that it ever really left my closet;) but the blouse is back ladies!!!!!! get one asap if you don’t already have one. I’m all for the tailored crisp button up and colored blouses but this post is all about the NOT so fitted white blouse, a wardrobe staple as far as I’m concerned which can be worn open over a dress, with jeans, skirts, shorts, slacks tucked in, undone, sleeves rolled up, tied in front……any way you want to wear it will work. As far as accessories….I load ’em on with this look but it Looks great with minimal jewelry as well.

Block Party!

23 Apr

Colorblocking is such a fun way to make a statement. It seems tricky at first but it can be done with ease. Lets start with the obvious, the absolute foolproof way to rock the block is by wearing a color block dress or a color blocked top and neutral bottoms. *Remember neutrals include black, white, grey and nude. As you get more comfortable with it you can start pairing up separates. If you want to start simple  you can pair a bright hue with a nude hue and if your feeling frisky you can pair two or more bold colors. I really love the look of a bright hues paired with a pastel hues also, very pretty. Adding a color blocked shoe to an otherwise simple outfit is also an easy way to add some oomph to your look.  Just try different combinations on and see what works for you. .

Here are some of my favorite color combos to block

  • Brown-peach-pink
  • Blue-yellow-orange
  • Orange-ivory-blue
  • Purple-blue-teal
  • Deep blue-bright pink-teal
  • Coral-grey-Ivory
  • Orange-ivory-fuschia
  • Royal blue-mint
  • Peach-mint
