Rebecca Minkoff made use of many textures, bold patterns and colors in today’s show and the live performance of Janelle Monae was so COOL! The accessories were great as I expected and I loved all the separates as well! Below are some of my favorite looks from the collection!

NYFW is less than 48 hours away and the parties have already begun!!!!! There are always so many great fashion moments at NYFW and the latest news is that models on Rebecca Minkoff’s New York Fashion Week runway will be strutting their stuff to the live music of Janelle Monae. Monae will sing at Friday’s show at Lincoln Center where Minkoff will be showing her collection for next Spring. There will be a live stream of the show Friday at 3 p.m. EDT. Exciting news on the fashion front!!!!!! H&M has announced an upcoming collaboration with Isabel Marant. The French designer, known for her rocker meets bohemian chic aesthetic is the latest high-end designer to work with H&M on a capsule collection! Marant’s collection will include womenswear and (for the first time in her career) menswear. The collection is set to launch online and in select H&M stores worldwide November 14. If you know and love Isabel Marant, I know you’re shaking in your boots about this collab! If the name sounds familiar- you have seen her creations and knockoffs of her creations EVERYWHERE! Does the hidden wedge trainer or studded Milwaukee bootie ring a bell? The always innovative designer will be sure to fulfill your fashion fix at prices within your grasp! Mark your calendars! With her dad watching from the front row, Stella McCartney presented her Fall/Winter 2013 collection today in Paris! She didn’t stray too far from her sporty chic aesthetic! The collection had somewhat of a tailored menswear feel to it including oversized coats, tailored pieces, plaids and stripes. I was not feeling the clunky shoes but overall I liked the fun and funky collection!
Alexander Wang owned his new creative director role at Balenciaga as he presented his highly anticipated debut collection for the French fashion house today in Paris. Wang played it somewhat safe as he paid homage to the label by “going back to the archive”( a sign of respect among fashion’s elite). The very wearable collection had some of the usual Wang street vibe to it but was very graceful and chic- So Balenciaga! Wang incorporated his own special touches of texture and some marble prints into the mostly black and white palette. The highlight for me was the shoes. I particularly loved the “T” strap and “V” strap heels!
This collection silenced many nay sayers and left the supporters hungry for more, which is exactly what a young designer strives for! Bravo Mr. Wang! Cheers to a job well done!
Prabal Gurung is a busy man as of late, his (love) Target collection launches in stores and online tomorrow and he presented his F/W 2013 collection in New York today. The militant aesthetic consisted of strong, polished looks. Leather belts and harnesses were everywhere and peplum was prevalent, proving indeed it is here to stay. The palette of rich navy blues, army greens and crimson were just beautiful. The gold hardware was impeccable and was carried from the clothes to the shoes – all custom-made by Cesare Casadei! WOW! Great strong empowering collection today, and I’m very excited to shop the frilly feminine collection tomorrow at Target!
Not even a blizzard could stop Jason Wu from filling up a beautiful Park Avenue venue to present his Fall 2013 collection Friday. Despite weather worries, a full house of spectators gazed in awe at one of the most anticipated collections of New York fashion week. There was an essence of elegance and glamour and the clothes were sexy and sophisticated. The mostly black a white palette included crisp collars, belted waists and pleated skirts ! I especially loved the makeup led by Lancome’s Diane Kendal, who created beautiful looks consisting of bold indigo cat eyes with muted lips and cheeks. This show was pretty amazing, nothing new for Mr. Wu!

New york fashion week is in full swing in and around Lincoln Center!!!! With over 80 designers showcasing their Fall/Winter 2013 collections over 8 days….. the semi-annual event(February & September) is the biggest event in the American fashion industry! I look forward to so many shows and will be sharing my favorite looks with you all. Let’s do this!!!!!!!
