NYFW Monique Lhuillier F/W 2013

10 Feb

Monique Lhuillier’s gorgeous Fall/Winter 2013 collection consisted mostly of her usual red carpet ready gowns in addition to some shorter tea length gowns and even included trousers!  The palette was mostly malachite green, winter white and black & gold baroque style pieces.  The entire collection was decadently detailed and beautifully tailored to the woman’s form.  Beautiful!

The Two Must Have Colors For 2013!!!

22 Jan

What are the “it” colors for 2013?????  I can’t choose just one!  The two colors that I won’t be able to live without are Emerald and Lilac!!!! So many of my favorite fashion moments have included at least one of these colors , if not both!  Emerald has always been a go to color  in my wardrobe but I’m really making room for lilac this year and am very excited about it.  If you’re not big into color you can start by adding a shoe or clutch to your outfit or adding these colors into your makeup regimen. If you love color, go crazy with it-  The more the merrier!

Some colorful inspiration…..

Pretty Teal Eyeliner

20 Aug

Eyeliner is a definite must have product, waking your face up and instantly making your eyes POP!  One  swoop of colored liner brings a WOW factor to your eyes!  If you don’t really wear colored shadows, eyeliner is your “gateway” product.  I love all colors but am partial to teal,  the beautiful hue goes with many skin tones and eye colors as well.  A teal lined eye is bright and fun while remaining very wearable.  Simply put, it is pretty on everyone.

Teal eyeliner comes in a variety of forms… good old-fashioned pencil, liquid, gel and cream.  Whatever formula you prefer is just fine to achieve this look. You’re not out of luck if you don’t own any of these because as long as you have a flat eyeshadow brush and teal shadow, you can substitute it instead of liner for a similar look.

Some of the many ways to wear teal eyeliner:

Upper lash line

Lower lash line/water line

Rim the entire eye

Pair with neutral eyeshadow (looks great with bronzes, beiges & taupes)

From low-key to dramatic, below are some examples of the many ways to wear this mermaid-chic look. Take note on how great this looks on all skin tones, eye shapes and colors.

Shop these eyeliners.

Urban decay 24/7 waterproof liquid liner in teal($19) Lancome Gel eyeliner in teal/turquoise($24.50) MakeUpForEver Aqua eyes pencil in turquoise($18) Sephora wateroof cream liner in electric teal($12) all available at Sephora.

On a budget? Try Prestige liquid liner in big teal($5.59) or Ulta Kohl eyeliner pencil in aqua($7) both available at Ulta.

9 Aug

I couldn’t be more excited about Fall,  it’s my favorite time of year for fashion and I feel like I’m able to really dive into my wardrobe.  I love coats, boots, rich colors, texture, layering, bold accessories, you name it!  Every year I look forward to the upcoming season,  some years are better than others and this year is GREAT!!!!!  I am so excited to shop these amazing looks and even more excited to wear them.  As you know I do not believe in “fashion rules” and I feel like sometimes trends are exactly that; a trend, while other trends last far into the next season and stay in your closet for years (those are my favorite kind).  I also know that certain trends are not for everyone, with that being said I will only be discussing trends that I love in this post!  If you have money to blow, splurge a little but by no means do you need a Fat bank account to be styling’ this Fall.  Let’s get to the fashion!!!!!!!

Happy Earth Day!

22 Apr

Happy Earth Day everybody:) I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful Sunday. I also hope you take the time today to think of some “little” changes you can make that will have a Big impact on the environment. Going green doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive.

Here are a few EASY changes that you can start with today that will make a difference immediately .

  • Buy a canvas tote... Whether you use it at the grocery store or to take your lunch to work this can save so many plastic and paper bags over time.
  • Cut your shower down by 2 minutes, YES 2 min can help (5 gallons saved)
  • Fix that leaky faucet NOW! Homeowners this can save you $30 a year and 74 gallons a day. Renting? This is FREE, just call your landlord and you’ll be saving 74 gallons a day in no time.
  • Turn water off while brushing your teeth, turning the water off during the recommended 2 minute brushing can save 5 gallons every day.
  • Recycle electronics…. check out http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/CompElec/ to find recycling resources in the LA area. Not in the LA area? check out your local dept. of public works website for info.
  • Never throw away old clothes, they unnecessarily fill landfills and could be worn by someone in need. Always donate to your local church, goodwill or salvation army. Also look for Donation Bins in your neighborhood. There is also a really cool website ,pickupplease.org, where you can schedule a FREE pickup of your donations and they go to Veterans and their families. If the clothes are in bad condition, cut them up and use them as rags.
  • Turn off lights when you’re not in the room
  • Walk whenever you can… turn your grocery trip into a workout or  return your netflix by foot.
  • Share these tips.… Most people don’t know how easy it is. Have kids? your efforts are doubled when you get your kids involved, helping them understand the why to the what.

There are so many things we can all do,  The list is never-ending. I like to add something new, get comfortable with it then add something else, making new habits. Here are some more ways to go green……….reusable water bottle’s , biodegradable doggie bags, Solar panels on the house…your State may subsidize energy saving and alternative power , replacing bulbs with more efficient ones, composting, running your dishwasher only when full, When doing laundry pay attention to wash setting..if you have a small load change the setting accordingly and washing with cold water as well, program those thermostats..changing it by a degree or two can save $ and energy, free cycle, support local farming by shopping at farmer’s markets, paperless bill paying online and many many more.
