White Eyeliner To The Rescue!

12 Nov

Ladies do not- I repeat DO NOT be afraid of white eyeliner, it is your friend indeed!  White eyeliner has been a makeup artist trick of the trade for decades and like any other product CAN be overdone and look silly but when applied right, white eyeliner instantly gives you a radiant and wide-eyed look.  If you want your eyes to POP, this is for you and is great if you have deep-set or small eyes as well. A very effective way to wear white eyeliner is to apply it to your lower waterline (inner rim of your bottom lid). Think of it as a continuation of the “whites” of your eyes……making them bigger and brighter immediately.  You can also use white eyeliner as a highlight to brighten up your inner corner tear duct area.

Fair to medium skin looks best with bright white or pearly hued pencils while tan to dark skin looks best with creamy, off white or beige hued pencils.

Feeling daring? Wing it out…..Upper or lower lash line…it’s up to you!

Proenza Schouler’s New Lust Worthy Bag

8 Nov

‘Bag ladies’ all know and love the PS1 bag by Proenza Schouler, well now it’s time for you to meet the PS1’s big sister…..the PS13 from their resort’13 collection!  Although the bags are totally different in design, they accomplish the same goal- a casually chic feel of understated elegance.  A bag like this only comes around once in a while.  Think about it, most designer bags appear to be designer bags while Proenza Schouler has mastered the “normal” extraordinary everyday bag that you can get away with wearing to the grocery store without looking silly.  I love how the top handles are sturdy and you have the option to wear as a shoulder bag also. The front flap pocket and backside zip pockets are great as well….. accessing keys, gum or a cell phone without going into the main bag is always a plus.  I must admit I will always be loyal to the PS1, but this new bag is pretty amazing as well.

Available at Proenza Schouler ($2,250-$6,550)

Lady Gaga Donates $1Million to Sandy Relief!

7 Nov

The 26-year-old eccentric singer, who grew up in Manhattan’s upper west side, made a huge donation to the American Red Cross today to help with the relief efforts after Hurricane Sandy.

‘Today I pledge 1 million dollars to New York & The American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief. If it wasn’t for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today. New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, and my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours. Sincerely, Lady Gaga and The Germanottas.’

Jenna Lyons Named Woman of The Year by Glamour

4 Nov

It is no surprise that super stylish creative director of J.Crew, Jenna Lyons, was named one of Glamour’s women of the year.  The 44-year-old inspiration started as a fashion assistant at J. Crew in 1990, worked her way up the old fashioned way and was named creative director of the mega-brand in 2007.  Myself and many others know J.Crew would NOT be where they are today without Lyons, it’s just a fact.  Not only is she the brains behind the brand, but also their most recognizable model.  Her style is uniquely casual yet polished, she has mastered the balance of masculine and feminine pieces while mixing textures effortlessly like no other. Thick rimmed glasses, middle parted hair and red lips were also a signature part of her look long before the trendy hipster crowds claimed it.  She is a style icon without a doubt, Glamour is spot on with this one!
