If it’s been too long since the Prabal/Target designer collab and you’re looking for affordable designer duds, don’t you fret… there is collab right around the corner. On April 5, the Derek Lam for Kohl’s will be available online and in stores. This is the second in a series of collaborations for Kohl’s called DesignNation- where each featured designer presents a collection inspired by their travels. Lam took inspiration for this collection from the jungles and sandy beaches of Rio De Janeiro which comes across in the fun prints and easy breezy vibe of the pieces. The wallet friendly collection is priced at $36-$88 and includes dresses, skirts and even swimwear- a first for the designer. Below are some of my favorites. Shop the collection HERE.
Marc Jacobs Diet Coke Cans Revealed!
15 FebMarc Jacobs the new creative director of diet coke has created three can designs for Diet Coke. The collaboration marks the 30 year anniversary of the popular diet beverage. The three designs celebrate each decade since the drink was launched 30 years ago. All three designs will be available on cans and counter bottles in 11 European markets including the UK and France from February 25, and all will feature an exclusive code for the chance to win a Marc Jacobs tote. Designer to the stars Rubin Singer spoke about the detail that went into the ensembles “My seamstresses were assembling all of the leather and exotic skins individually by hand. All of the pieces were separate details that were all constructed on her body.”
CONFIRMED: Alexander Wang to Head Up Balenciaga!
30 NovAlthough the news won’t be officially announced until next week, it has been confirmed that 28-year-old Alexander Wang known for his clean yet edgy aesthetic has landed the job as Balenciaga’s new Creative Director. Rumors have been swirling for some time as Wang was a top candidate for the position. In just five years, Wang’s own label has become very successful and his creations have plenty of commercial appeal. His shoes and handbags are top-sellers as well as his diffusion line T by Alexander Wang. He will have his work cut out for him juggling this new position in addition to his steadily growing label, but I think he’ll do just fine!

3 NovBalmain is known for their endless embellishments and overall rock ‘n’ roll vibe, but when Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing teamed up with jeweler Aurélie Bidermann, the pair created a calm classy carryall…… Introducing Pierre, Balmain’s debut handbag named after the famed founder of the french fashion house. Made of suede and available in either grey, cherry, or natural, Pierre comes complete with an ivory leather interior and is adorned with a faux ivory tooth for a bit of edge. Just like Balmain clothing, Pierre won’t be easy to acquire. The bag comes with a hefty $4,350 price tag and will be exclusively available at Barneys New York, Harrods and the Balmain Paris store.

Prabal Gurung For Target!
22 OctThe rumors have been swirling since Summer and the rumors are TRUE! Prabal Gurung and Target have collaborated for a collection due to hit stores February 10th! The collection will stay true to Gurung’s aesthetic of sharp tailoring and feminine silhouettes with much use of prints and graphic detail. The fashion forward masses will be able to get their hands on this over 80 piece collection just in time for the holidays. The highly anticipated collaboration will include ready to wear and accessories including shoes and bags. Prices range from $19.99 for a T-shirt to $199.99 for a leather jacket.

Rebecca Minkoff to Open Store in NYC
8 OctRebecca Minkoff will be opening a freestanding boutique in NYC. Last March the stylish designer opened a 3,000 square foot flagship store in Tokyo, but this will be the brand’s first on American soil. The soho shop will feature her amazing accessories, clothes and more and will take over the space currently occupied by Kirna Zabete as they will be moving to a larger location. The shop is set to open in next Spring. Minkettes…….. are you excited?????? Not a Minkette yet?
