Limsanity!!!! My Phillip Lim for Target Adventure!

15 Sep

Today the highly anticipated Phillip Lim for Target collaboration launched!!  Target stores in my area opened at 8 am and they all had lines. I got my magazine, chair and bottled water and headed to my local Target, I arrived at 6:45am and I was the FIRST in line!!! Wooohhoooooo! Needless to say, I was able to get both of the bags that I wanted! Everything was going smooth until the bags ran out, the workers came with more on carts and that’s when the stampede started, people were pushing and shoving their way to the cart before they could even restock the shelf! After that, the bags were gone – only five minutes had passed! By the time I left there was still a good amount of clothes left and I hope everyone got what they wanted!  As a shoe and bag LOVER, I will go on record and say this is my favorite collab since Jimmy Choo for H&M!  Until the next collaboration!!!!

Phillip Lim For Target LookBook!!!!!!!

14 Aug

Unless you’ve been living under a fashion rock, you KNOW about the upcoming Phillip Lim and Target collaboration (If not, click HERE for more info)  you must check out the pictures below. Target unveiled the lookbook for the collection and I’m sharing my FAVORITES with you!  Like I mentioned in my previous post about this collection, I am ALL ABOUT the accessories!  The scarves and bags are pretty amazing and there is an almost identical version of the Pashli bag for $35!!!!!!

I get sooooo excited about these designer collaborations because it’s really a great way for the everyday fashionista to get her hands on designer pieces, and it brings  high-end designers into every home.  I hear different opinions on this topic sometimes and thought I’d share my opinion.  I hold a firm the belief that it’s great all the way around from designer to consumer.  Of course nothing in these collaborations is “handmade” or made with the best material money can buy, but sometimes it’s NOT about spending the most money!  True fashion lovers know that at the end of the day, fashion is about design and ideas- a particular designer’s artistic spin on a piece of clothing or an accessory.  We pay to wear this art and to make personal statements with it! These collaborations use affordable and more accessible materials and mass produce the pieces to come down to a low price point, but other than that you are STILL purchasing a piece of the designer’s art -in this case Phillip Lim spent months brainstorming and sketching this collection-and that my friends IS FASHION!!!!!! As a lover of high- end and low-end fashion, I feel that mixing is the best way to go! I never buy a piece simply because of the designer label and never pass up a piece simply because of the non designer label! Basically, I will wear Louboutins with a Forever21 dress!!!!!  In other words- if I love it, I buy it and you should too!

Don’t forget to mark your calendars!!!!!!! September 15th!

Lancome’s Latest Collaboration Lives Up To The Hype!

23 Jun

Paris fashion house Lanvin’s creative director Alber Elbaz has teamed up with lancome on a 9 piece collection that’s all about the eyes!  When this collaboration was announced earlier this year, makeup lovers went into a panic of sorts, just waiting to get their hands on the collection!  Months later, I’ve been able to try  these products and let me just say that they live up to the hype, namely the 4 eyeshadow palettes.  These palettes have such pretty hues and the color payoff is amazingly, pigment for days!  My favorite is the mint Jolie( a palette of gorgeous greens).  Also in the collection are false lashes and mascara as well.  The great news is the colors are here to stay although the special edition packaging is not, so if you’re a package junky, you may want to get your hands on this collection ASAP. Available Now at Lancome.

Karlie Kloss Frame Denim Collaboration

14 May

Karlie Kloss and Frame Denim have teamed up to co-design a capsule collection that launches this June.  The great thing about this collaboration is that the leggy 6’1″ model has created 2 styles of jeans that accommodate even the tallest of women.  The 2 styles- one flared and one skinny come complete with 40″ inseams!  Just to give you an idea, the average inseam on women’s jeans is closer to 32″. This collection will fill that niche for  tall girls who have a hard time finding jeans that fit properly.  The jeans are priced at $209 and $219 and will launch in select high-end stores early this June.

Another Target Collaboration Announced!

9 May

Target is at it again, today they announced their upcoming high fashion collaboration with New York City designer Phillip Lim. Unfortunately we won’t be able to shop this collection until September, but I do think it’s worth the wait. This collaboration strikes me as a little different from its predecessors in the way that the design aesthetic is almost identical to Lim’s full priced designs, really giving the frugal fashionista the chance to get a true taste of the Lim’s designs. The collections, one for men and one for women, will be priced at $19.99-$299.99(for a leather jacket) although most items will be in the $19.99-$75 range. The most exciting part is that all the Bags are  priced at $60 or less!  The 100+ piece collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target launches online and in target stores September 15.

Check out the $35 yellow tote offered in the target collection pictured below that is so similar to the ‘Pashli’ satchels that retail for $650-$825!!!  This, my friends is a collaboration worth getting excited over!

Derek Lam For Kohl’s

27 Mar

If it’s been too long since the Prabal/Target designer collab and you’re looking for affordable designer duds, don’t you fret… there is collab right around the corner.  On April 5, the Derek Lam for Kohl’s will be available online and in stores.  This is the second  in a series of collaborations for Kohl’s called DesignNation- where each featured designer presents a collection inspired by their travels.  Lam took  inspiration for this collection from the jungles and sandy beaches of Rio De Janeiro which comes across in the fun prints and easy breezy vibe of the pieces. The wallet friendly collection is priced at $36-$88 and includes dresses, skirts and even swimwear- a first for the designer.  Below are some of my favorites. Shop the collection HERE.

Giles & Brother JewelMint Collaboration!

21 Mar

Earlier this week the highly anticipated Giles & Brother JewelMint accessories collaboration launched.  The 10 piece capsule collection marks the first of many JewelMint designer collaborations  dubbed the Studio Series that will bring designers to a broader audience via the members only Jewelmint website.  Jewlery Designer and goldsmith Philip Crangi along with his sister Courtney aka Giles head up the accessory company Giles & Brother and have a strong following of fashion forward fans. Crangi didn’t stray too far from his usual unique, industrial aesthetic although there was an obvious tribal and equestrian feel to most of the collection.  Typically, G&B pieces can cost upwards of $500 so at this $29.99-$90 price range, G&B  fans will be snatching up this collection real quick in addition to throngs of newly introduced fans through Jewlmint! In other words….this collection will sell out fast!!  Join and shop the collection NOW at JewelMint.  P.S. It’s FREE to join.

Cambridge Handbag Collaboration Out This Month!!!

2 Feb

The Cambridge Satchel Company has been in the works with American designer Chris Benz on the fun and colorful Spring 2013 (Virginia) collection.  The bags are the classic Cambridge designs that we’ve come to expect and love but have a few new fun twists.  The bags are available in 9 colors and all have a signature white front pocket and  the bag is a smaller more compact shape with a single top handle and comes with a longer removable strap as well.  While the buckles look exactly the same, they  have magnetic closures which is awesome, making it way easier to get in and out of your bag. This collection will be available later this month at Bloomingdales $295.
