My Favorite Matte Bronzer!

11 Dec

Bronzers are great whether you’re looking to add warmth to your complexion(year round tan without the orange look) or to add depth by contouring.  I am naturally tan so I use bronzers for contouring and personally prefer matte bronzers (as opposed to shimmery).  I have tried many and now I use NYX matte bronzer regularly and for $9 it definitely gives me a lot of bang for my buck.  I found that the NYX matte bronzer blended just as well as high-end bronzers and provided exactly what I was looking for.  It’s similar to Benefit Hoola matte bronzer($28) and MAC Pro long wear bronzer($28) in many ways besides price. This Available in 5 colors….light, medium, deep, dark tan and deep tan so there are options for many skin tones. If you want to try bronzer for the first time or want an affordable alternative in your makeup collection, give this a try. Available at Drug stores, Ulta and NYX.

Great Makeup Guides! (highlighting/contouring and eyes)

4 Dec

Here are some great steps to follow that can help you whether you are experienced or just starting to wear makeup!  I feel like the two hardest “makeup” techniques to master are highlighting & contouring and creating the perfect smokey eye.  Below I have chosen my favorite guides to achieve these looks.

As far as highlighting & contouring goes, Keep in mind all face shapes and bone structures are different so you don’t have to follow the illustrations exactly, they are just guides to help you. Don’t worry everything will be fine after you blend blend blend!

My FAVORITE New Beauty Product!

20 Nov

I love BB creams and tinted moisturizers very much.  I’m a huge fan of Smash Box BB cream as well as Laura Mercer tinted moisturizer and recently I’ve been using Origins VitaZing moisturizer and I LOVE IT!  VitaZing is somewhat in a category of its own….like the products I previously mentioned, VitaZing is definitely a multi tasking moisturizer , it has SPF, anti oxidant rich mangosteen and a hint of color…….NOT weird orangey fake tan color either,  it just evens out my skin while adding a healthy glow.  I have medium/slightly deep colored skin and it gave me a glow!  It smells great and is fun to apply(comes out of the tube white with tiny brown specs and turns into a beautiful warm color as it’s rubbed into the skin) I cannot get enough of this stuff!  It’s great because I can wear it alone with or as a base for my makeup without it being cakey and with NO irritation!  It is much greater than I can even begin to explain…..please go to your local Origins and ask for a sample…..but before you do read the reviews they speak for themselves.  VitaZing is available at Origins $35 .  If you want a light moisturizer that evens out skin and is wearable everyday, this is your product!

Coverage comparison:

Smashbox BB Cream: slightly heavy coverage

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer: medium coverage

Origins VitaZing: Light, sheer coverage.

White Eyeliner To The Rescue!

12 Nov

Ladies do not- I repeat DO NOT be afraid of white eyeliner, it is your friend indeed!  White eyeliner has been a makeup artist trick of the trade for decades and like any other product CAN be overdone and look silly but when applied right, white eyeliner instantly gives you a radiant and wide-eyed look.  If you want your eyes to POP, this is for you and is great if you have deep-set or small eyes as well. A very effective way to wear white eyeliner is to apply it to your lower waterline (inner rim of your bottom lid). Think of it as a continuation of the “whites” of your eyes……making them bigger and brighter immediately.  You can also use white eyeliner as a highlight to brighten up your inner corner tear duct area.

Fair to medium skin looks best with bright white or pearly hued pencils while tan to dark skin looks best with creamy, off white or beige hued pencils.

Feeling daring? Wing it out…..Upper or lower lash line…it’s up to you!
