MTV’s House Of Style To Return

24 Jul

I am over the moon!!!!!!!  The rumors are true…….MTV announced today that House Of Style will return October 9.  The iconic fashion news show first aired in 1989 and was hosted by Cindy Crawford for the first six years(later hosts included Rebecca Romijn, Daisy Fuentes and Molly Sims). The new show “House Of Style Collection” will be featured exclusively on the MTV style digital platform but will include content for TV as well.  The show will not only feature current episodes, but will also include classic footage HELLO Todd Oldham DIY segments and supermodels galore!  MTV is keeping the host a secret but will reveal the muse on the red carpet of the 2012 MTV video music awards on September 6.  In addition to the resurrection of the best fashion show EVER,  MTV will air “House of style: Music models and MTV” on August 7. The documentary will basically look back and tell the story of the series, all while celebrating 90’s fashion. If you’re a 90’s kid like myself this will refresh our memories and if you’ve never heard of the show, this will be your introduction!  Click HERE for a preview!!!!!!!

My Favorite Fall Campaigns!

23 Jul

Fall 2012 ad campaigns have arrived!   Twice a year(Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter) our favorite fashion houses sum up their collections and ideas with images that are targeted to fashionistas around the world.  I usually have a favorite or two but not this time, it was actually a chore narrowing it down to my top five!  I think you’ll agree that these are some amazing images…….

Louis Vuitton: Love the enchanting 1920’s “Louis Vuitton express” feel. Shot by Steven Meisel.

Jean Paul Gaultier: Karlie Kloss looks gorgeous in these street inspired ads complete with old scaffolding and graffiti in the background. Shot by Willy Vandeperre.

Vera Wang: Simply beautiful, these ethereal ads literally look like a dream. Shot by Carter Smith.

Edun: I love the creative images of the models as well as the use of a beautiful white owl and butterflies which are all indigenous to Africa where the brand  produces most of it’s clothing, supporting local factories.  This is the first ever campaign for the brand. Shot by Ryan McGinley.

Mulberry: My absolute favorite!  The whimsical ‘where the wild things are’ themed ads are perfection. Shot by Tim Walker.

okay okay I have one more, lets call it the honorable mention……

H&M:  I love how simple yet stunning this campaign is, featuring Lana Del Ray the retro vibe is in full swing.  Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde.

Clueless 17th Anniversary!!!

19 Jul

With a release date of July 19th 1995, today marks the 17th anniversary of Clueless!  At the time it was my FAVORITE movie!  I can’t even count how many phrases, songs and fashion habits I got from that film…..  I instantly became obsessed with Fred Segal , learned to love and include color in my wardrobe, started taking my shoes very seriously and kept polaroids of items in my closet to help keep organized(it really works). WOW I have so many things to be thankful for all because of a silly teen movie!  I think I’ll add it to my Netflix queue just for kicks!

Bikini Evolution

17 Jul

This month marks the 66th birthday of the bikini! In 1946 July 5th to be exact French designer Louis Réard introduced the daring two piece to the world. So daring that at first Parisian models refused to wear his design. However a dancer named Micheline Bernardini took on the challenge and became the first woman ever to wear a bikini, sparking a trend that would never end. The bikini has been ever-changing since it’s debut in the 1940’s, let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Contrary to the latest Sports Illustrated cover, not everyone is wearing tiny string bikinis. There are many different styles being worn today.  I love how there is no definition of the “now” bikini. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, materials and cuts!  Cheers to variety!

Love these Fashion Quotes

16 Jul

“You’re considered superficial and silly if you are interested in fashion, but I think you can be substantial and still be interested in frivolity” -Sofia Coppola

“Sizes mean nothing. Know your measurements and what proportions work best for you, then work the hell out of those”-Olga Montserrat

I couldn’t agree more!
