My Favorite Fall Campaigns!

23 Jul

Fall 2012 ad campaigns have arrived!   Twice a year(Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter) our favorite fashion houses sum up their collections and ideas with images that are targeted to fashionistas around the world.  I usually have a favorite or two but not this time, it was actually a chore narrowing it down to my top five!  I think you’ll agree that these are some amazing images…….

Louis Vuitton: Love the enchanting 1920’s “Louis Vuitton express” feel. Shot by Steven Meisel.

Jean Paul Gaultier: Karlie Kloss looks gorgeous in these street inspired ads complete with old scaffolding and graffiti in the background. Shot by Willy Vandeperre.

Vera Wang: Simply beautiful, these ethereal ads literally look like a dream. Shot by Carter Smith.

Edun: I love the creative images of the models as well as the use of a beautiful white owl and butterflies which are all indigenous to Africa where the brand  produces most of it’s clothing, supporting local factories.  This is the first ever campaign for the brand. Shot by Ryan McGinley.

Mulberry: My absolute favorite!  The whimsical ‘where the wild things are’ themed ads are perfection. Shot by Tim Walker.

okay okay I have one more, lets call it the honorable mention……

H&M:  I love how simple yet stunning this campaign is, featuring Lana Del Ray the retro vibe is in full swing.  Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde.

Clueless 17th Anniversary!!!

19 Jul

With a release date of July 19th 1995, today marks the 17th anniversary of Clueless!  At the time it was my FAVORITE movie!  I can’t even count how many phrases, songs and fashion habits I got from that film…..  I instantly became obsessed with Fred Segal , learned to love and include color in my wardrobe, started taking my shoes very seriously and kept polaroids of items in my closet to help keep organized(it really works). WOW I have so many things to be thankful for all because of a silly teen movie!  I think I’ll add it to my Netflix queue just for kicks!

Kerry Washington goes glam in a vintage inspired editorial for Vogue Italia’s July issue.  The shoot included poodles, vintage clothes and shag carpets!  The actress looked nothing less than perfect in the shoot  which was very reminiscent of Jackie O and 1960’s Diana Ross, LOVE IT!

How to make a heart on your nails in a few easy steps

14 Jul

I am so in love with all the latest nail art I have come across, it’s such a sensation across beauty blogs and all over the web. I have always done polka dots and have mastered the easiest way to do so.  I am not artsy at all, so getting perfect polka dots every time is an amazing feat.  I used to use a toothpick until I discovered my favorite polka dot making tool at a craft store  years ago and I still use the same tool now. The tool is known in the scrapbooking world as a stylus or embossing tool and they’re very reasonably priced, $2-$4 at Michaels, Jo-ann or any craft store. I prefer the dual tipped kind, so I can choose the size of my polka dots. This whole polka dot obsession has led me to include heart designs in my nail art.  I came across a tutorial a few months ago that showed how to create a heart by connecting 3 dots. you’ll see just how simple it is in the pictures below

Stylus tool $2.10 at stuff4scrapbooking.

Heart in a few easy steps.

1. start with one dot

2. make another dot directly beside it

3.make a third dot under the first two, directly in the middle, this will be the bottom of your heart.

4 connect the three dots into a heart shape.

5. give your design plenty of time to dry before applying your topcoat.

                                                                                                                                                     My tool

I prefer to put a small amount of polish onto a post it and dip my tool into that instead of into the bottle.

My latest heart nail art. Mint polish topped with a cherry red heart!
